Background & credentials

Dr. Ambani is a graduate of Yale University and a former Fulbright Scholar. She earned her medical degree at Duke University in 2009, then completed her integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of Michigan, where she was elected Administrative Chief Resident in 2016. She refined her skills further through a fellowship in Reconstructive Microsurgery at the University of Pittsburgh in 2017, a demanding specialty that requires meticulous attention to detail.

After nine years, from 2017 to 2026, as an attending surgeon in Michigan, Dr. Ambani transitioned to private practice in Ann Arbor. She combines that training with current technology to protect patient safety and to build plans around each patient, not a template.

A philosophy of form and function.

“My goal is never to make someone look like a different person. It’s to restore form and function, and to preserve what already makes a patient look like themselves. I evaluate every candidate carefully — what’s possible, what’s safe, and what will still look natural in five and ten years. The right plan is the one that fits the patient in front of me, not the trend of the moment.”
— Dr. Shoshana Ambani Her goal is not to make every patient look the same. It is to understand what already belongs to the patient and refine it with restraint. A strong reconstructive background is part of how that works in practice: standard aesthetic procedures can be modified to fit an individual's anatomy and goals rather than applied as a template.
