Liposuction

Liposuction contours localized fat in areas that remain out of proportion despite stable habits. It is not a weight-loss treatment, and it cannot tighten skin that has lost elasticity.

Introduction

What is liposuction?

Through small incisions, a thin tube called a cannula removes selected fat beneath the skin. Common treatment areas can include the abdomen, waist, back, hips, thighs, arms, chest, or the area beneath the chin.

Submental liposuction is liposuction beneath the chin. It can refine a localized pocket of fat when skin elasticity and facial structure support that plan. If loose skin or another anatomic feature is driving the concern, liposuction alone may not be the right treatment.

Honest guidance

Are you a good candidate?

YOUR CONSULTATION CONSIDERS

  • Localized fat, rather than generalized weight or loose skin, is the main concern.
  • Your weight is stable and your skin can conform to the intended contour.
  • Your health is optimized and you are nicotine-free.

AN INDIVIDUAL DECISION

Candidacy is personal. Dr. Ambani reviews your goals, anatomy, health, medications, prior procedures, healing history, and timing before recommending treatment.

She will also tell you when another procedure, further evaluation, waiting, or no treatment is the better plan.

A useful consultation leaves room for every outcome: proceeding, refining the plan, staging care, or deciding that waiting is right for you.

What recovery involves

01

Early healing

Expect swelling, bruising, soreness, and temporary firmness or numbness in treated areas.

02

Returning to routine

Compression may be recommended, and activity returns gradually as swelling and tenderness improve.

03

Long-term care

Contour becomes clearer as fluid retention settles. Weight change can alter the result.

Risks to discuss: Risks include bleeding, infection, fluid collections, contour irregularity, asymmetry, skin or sensation change, blood clots, fat embolism, anesthesia complications, and revision.

Clear, personalized planning

Thoughtful answers

Common questions

These answers are general. Your consultation is where Dr. Ambani applies them to your anatomy, health, and goals.

Is liposuction a weight-loss procedure?

No. It treats localized fat and works best near a stable weight.

What is submental liposuction?

It removes selected fat beneath the chin through small incisions. Skin quality, the amount and location of fat, and chin and neck anatomy determine whether it fits the concern.

Does liposuction tighten loose skin?

No. Skin may contract when elasticity is good, but loose skin can require a lift or skin removal.

Can liposuction be combined with other surgery?

Often, but the safest combination depends on the areas, operating time, and recovery.

How much does liposuction cost?

Cost depends on the areas treated, extent, setting, anesthesia, and operating time. You receive an itemized estimate after consultation.
